Cancer Services MDT Coordinator
Between Pontyclun and Merthyr Tydfil

The post holder will be a core member of cancer site-specific multi-disciplinary team/s, providing full administrative and information support to the team/s.
The Co-ordinator will be required to collate, record and validate data for submission to national (UK wide) and/or Wales wide based audits, including Cancer Peer Review and Cancer Standards and any local audits for the multi-disciplinary team/s.
They will actively ensure that all patients are treated within National Targets set for cancer patients, proactively taking steps to identify delays and escalate to the clinical team.

•Manage the co-ordination of Cancer Site Specific MDT Meetings which may include a pre MDM triage meeting.
•As a core member of the MDT the co-ordinator will collect all essential information as determined by the relevant data set. This requires the co-ordinator to work closely with the clinical team, highlighting information deficits to ensure completeness of data.
•Develop and maintain close working relationships with MDT members including Consultant staff to enable the sharing of complex and sensitive information.
•The co-ordinator will use the Canisc MDM Module, or other method of recording, to record the outcome of each and every patient listed for discussion at the MDM (multi-disciplinary meeting). Following the MDM, the co-ordinator, will, in a timely fashion, provide information on Canisc, which will include the outcome and recommendation of the discussion.
•Be responsible for and ensure that any appropriate follow-up actions from MDT meetings are carried out as identified during the discussion, e.g. Patient requires a CT scan, the co-ordinator will check that the request has been made and being progressed in a timely manner and a follow-up discussion arranged if required.
•In order to facilitate the efficiency of the MDT meeting, it is the co-ordinators role to organise the key elements required, e.g. the requesting and collection of case notes, radiology and pathology reports in order to ensure that the information necessary for effective team functioning is available at each meeting. In addition, the role also requires the post holder to arrange the availability of venues and formally setting up the equipment and seating arrangements at the venue.
•To challenge the progress of patients’ journey with all members of the cancer MDT and to actively seek and persuade clinical service providers to alter existing appointments (by prioritising cancer activity) to ensure the cancer pathway is maintained.
•Where personal intervention is unsuccessful, to escalate to the appropriate operational management team in a timely manner to allow corrective action to be achieved.
•To work in partnership with Lead Cancer Clinicians ensuring completion and accuracy of the clinical information recorded. Ensuring timely completion in order to meet specified deadlines, e.g. Cancer Standards / Peer Review.
•Be able to show a level of initiative and judgement on the management of data where there are more than one possible option.

Essential

•Good standard of education at HNC/Diploma level or equivalent.
•Computer Literate- knowledge of - CANISC, Health Board clinical systems, Myrddin.
•Experience of working with clinical teams.
•Experience of information analysis and reporting.
•Experience of data collection and validation.
•Own transport
