Full-time (37 hrs per week)

Our client are a prominent and valued community housing organisation who are committed to providing high-quality and affordable accommodation across Blaenau Gwent.

They currently have a need for a Clerk of Works - Electrical Micro Renewables to join them on a 3-month contract. Contract extension will be dependent on funding.

The role is responsible for the inspection and quality control of Building, Electrical and Micro Renewable Technology Contractor’s work including PV, Solar thermal, IES systems, air source heat pumps, battery storage etc. This will include tenant and contractor liaison across a variety of contracts. The Clerk of Works will be supported by Contracts Project Manager to carry out works to support tenants, Leaseholders and Owner Occupiers.

Core Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

To be responsible for the inspection and quality control of building, electrical and micro renewable Contractor’s work to support the delivery of the annual maintenance programme to the targets set;

Ensure that the highest standards or workmanship is followed at all times by managing the performance of appointed contractors through regular contract meetings to ensure projects are returned in a timely manner and in line with quality standards;

To contribute to the cost management of projects ensuring budgets are maintained by raising purchase orders checking and agreeing validations and approving purchase orders for payments; and

Ensure a safe working environment by recording and bring any shortfalls observed to the attention of the person(s) concerned and escalate matters to senior managers if person(s) concerned are not managing risks to your satisfaction.

Provide clear concise instructions in a timely manner in order to minimise project delays.

Person Specification:

Essential:

Educated to level 3 National Qualification Framework for England, Wales and Northern Ireland in construction trade

Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) certificate or willing to work towards

Qualified current IEE wiring regulations BS7671

Inspection and testing 2391

Have a wide understanding of the building industry, including knowledge of materials, trades, methods and legal requirements.

Keep up to date with changes in construction methods, statutory legislation and carry out continued professional development (CPD) relevant to the type of you are currently working on.

Knowledge of the installation, operation and maintenance of domestic micro renewable technology installations including PV, Solar thermal, IES systems, air source heat pumps, battery storage etc

Significant experience in servicing, testing, maintenance and installation of electrical installations and appliances in a domestic setting (commercial boilers desirable).

Significant experience within a similar role of similar responsibilities

Experience of the installation, operation and maintenance of domestic micro renewable technology installations including PV, Solar thermal, IES systems, air source heat pumps, battery storage etc.

Experience of using Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint.

Able to problem solve and makes sound judgements of decision when required, including insisting on corrections, when to persuade or negotiate, and when to compromise.

Desirable:

Portable Appliance Testing qualified

Domestic Electrical Installations Design

Formally trained in the applications of WHQS , HHSRS

Contract Admin. Formally Trained in the administration of both JCT and NEC standard form contracts

Working towards NVQ Level 3 Site Inspection or similar approved

Asbestos skills Level 2 Certificate

Knowledge of the social housing sector in Wales

Experience of using Northgate or a similar management system

Welsh Language Skills
