Duties and responsibilities

• Lead responsibility for developing approaches to targeting and promoting the employment services on offer from the programme through recruiting, negotiating and liaising with local employers and local authorities to develop new and existing training and employment opportunities and ensure their sustainability.
• Use a variety of sales and marketing skills to recruit employers, identify suitable opportunities to which participants can be matched. Responsibility for subsequent intensive in work mentoring of participants in collaboration with Community Employment Mentors and Communities for Work Advisors/Mentors.
• To work closely with the Community Employment Mentors and Communities for Work Advisors/Mentors and communicate effectively in order to ensure work placements, volunteering, traineeships, apprenticeships and other employability opportunities are filled.
• Liaise with both employers and participants during placement and post-employment to ensure that outcomes are sustained.
• Develop and maintain relationships with other support agencies
• Advise and signpost employers to other support agencies where appropriate.
• Prepare written reports, presentations and updates as required
• Support the wider employability provision
• To support other employment team members in working with and support participants to prepare for work
• To provide a flexible service, developing comprehensive support plans with employers and participants and undertake further assessment and regular reviews as appropriate, in collaboration with team members.

• To be involved in dealing with enquiries to the programme, taking referrals and handling employer enquiries
• To support the process of ensuring effective matching of participants to identified opportunities including attendance at Triage meetings.
• To develop and deliver appropriate involvement mechanisms such as supporting existing partnerships, community focus groups and community events.
• To work in partnership with agencies and stakeholders to develop and deliver outcomes
• Identify and facilitate appropriate training and learning opportunities
• Ensure follow up monitoring and support is provided once participants move into employment
• Gather evidence from employers and sources to demonstrate interview, job entry, sustainable employment, self- employment etc
• To assist in the co-ordination of referral mechanisms
• To follow prescribed filing and data accuracy requirements to ensure the confidentiality of participant information and a robust audit trail for internal and external review.
• To participate in the Welsh Government programme development activity
• To carry out other tasks and responsibilities of a similar nature to those listed above as determined from time to time by the Local programme manager in relation to the smooth running of the service.
• To conduct Health & Safety vetting at employers' premises, monitor and review in line with occupational and organisational risk level.

Essential
• Educated to a minimum of NVQ Level 4 or equivalent
• Understanding of employment support programmes and participant engagement and progression
• Understanding of the economy and how to identify opportunities that support recruitment into growth sectors
• Knowledge of support needs of long term unemployed, economically inactive people, young people, families and single customers
• Understanding of confidentiality and data protection issues
• Experience in negotiating and co-ordinating employment supporting opportunities with organisations in various settings
• Ability to develop a creative and collaborative approach to providing work placements, volunteering, traineeships and other employability supporting opportunities
• Experience of inter agency and cross sector networking
• Experience of working with clients who are experiencing poverty and barriers to employment.
