Our client is looking to hire a Product Governance Manager to join their team which works between the distribution, servicing, and risk functions of the business to provide a holistic approach to the governance and oversight of their products, customers, intermediaries, and the associated customer journeys.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for executing the Group Product Governance Framework in accordance with standards set out by the FCA and company policies, which will entail:

·         Regulated product reviews: Completing comprehensive assessments of the financial, commercial, risk, and regulatory performance of existing products, new products, and amendments to existing products.

·         Portfolio governance workstack: Defining and delivering a pipeline of work across designated portfolio of products to provide assurance of product compliance and performance.

·         Continuous product lifecycle management: Analysing and interpreting product lifecycle MI and industry insight to effectively manage the designated portfolio.

·         Thematic reviews: Completing robust thematic reviews in response to emerging themes, risks, and opportunities in reporting or macro-environment and/or issuance of regulatory guidance.

·         Risk events & product issue management: Solving complex product related problems and risk events, owning all aspects including sizing, root cause analysis, interpretation of customer detriment, lessons learned and delivery of actions to remediate and avoid repetition.

·         Documenting and escalating potential risks/issues to the appropriate Senior Leaders, Forum and/or Committee.

·         Recommending actions to develop products in accordance with review findings, gaining approval from Senior Leaders and delivering actions within deadlines agreed.

·         Leading workshops with relevant stakeholders to understand complex product problems, scope requirements, and understand desirability, feasibility, and viability of proposed solutions.

·         Influencing Executives and senior stakeholders to gain buy-in for key activities, socialising outputs of thematic review work and making recommendations for development.

·         Validating proposition ideas for compliance with Product Governance Policy.

·         Point of escalation for any issues and opportunities identified within the allocated product portfolio.

·         Continuously assessing the robustness of Product level MI, taking action to enhance where applicable.

·         Evaluating change requirements and collaborating with Change function to enhance existing regulated products and technical solutions required to enhance customer experience.

·         Developing quality insight briefs for research proposals to inform regulated product performance and suitability.

·         Analysing MI to identify opportunities such as cross-selling, emerging target markets or new customer needs, taking recommendations to the Senior Leadership Team and forwarding to Proposition Development to deliver.

·         Maintaining close working relationships throughout the business line and Group

·         Representing the Product Governance Team in company projects as required

·         Mentoring and coaching colleagues and Product Governance Executives

·         Ensuring conduct is considered, customers are treated fairly, and vulnerable customers are considered in all that we do

·         Role modelling the company’s culture and values

·         Ensuring effective communication of change

·         Developing self to ensure subject matter expert knowledge as maintained; financial metrics, products, end to end customer journeys, systems, industry, and applicable regulation

·         Carry out any other reasonable tasks or projects as requested

·         Abiding by and delivering in accordance with the company’s Strategy and policies, ensuring that customer interests are properly considered, represented, and protected.

 

Essential skills

·         Good level of education, A level standard or equivalent.

·         Experience in financial services or similarly complex sectors.

·         Experience in an analytical or complex problem-solving role.

·         Highly analytical with proven ability to identify opportunities/problems from MI/data suites.

·         Complex problem-solving skills.

·         Logical and commercially minded.

·         Expert report writing skills.

·         Stakeholder management, influencing and negotiating skills.

·         Good communicator across all mediums.

·         Ability to recommend and own, recommend, and deliver innovative and creative ideas.
