Our client is looking for a Buyer to join them on a temporary basis.

Key responsibilities

  • Procurement of goods fit for purpose, based on:

-Parts supplied confirming official drawings and material specifications.

-Liaising with Quality, Production, R&D, and suppliers to maintain agreed quality.

Confirming that standards set by Regulatory Bodies ISO and BEAB are adhered to by suppliers.

-Policing of European Legislation – RHOS and WEE directives.

  • Develop close working relationships with other key functions (Production, R&D, etc.) to commercially lead negotiations for key projects with strategic suppliers.

  • Ensure a high level of cross communication to ensure a coordinated approach to negotiations and projects/initiatives.

  • Issue and manage purchase orders in line with customer requirements through Oracle MRP system.

  • Ensure that the supplier base adheres to all criteria set out in the supplier contract.

  • Manage supplier relationships to drive annual cost reduction activities while maintaining quality and security of supply.

  • Monitor the schedules for deliveries including sea and air shipment and report any issues accordingly.

  • Monitor and evaluate material pricing based on external independent sources.

  • Monitor and evaluate supply base performance through methods such as vendor rating, price monitoring, quality performance, and on time delivery performance.

  • Assist, build, and discuss KPI performance with suppliers.

  • Provide reports on key events.

  • Maintain agreed action plans and progress PDR objectives.

  • Record, measure, and improve performance of suppliers and provide to stakeholders.

Essential

  • Purchasing experience within a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with all business levels.

  • Confident negotiation skills and ability to deal with procurement activities.

  • Experience of managing multiple simultaneous projects.

  • Must be proficient in MS Office applications.

  • Valid passport and driving licence.

Desirable

  • CIPS qualification.

  • Technical knowledge and the ability to analyse drawings and specifications.

  • Experience within the Electronics or Manufacturing industries.

  • Proven experience of Oracle systems.
