Our client is looking for a Police Prosecutor to join their team on a temp to perm basis. The role is based in Newport but will be moving to Pontypool in January 2022.
Job description:
To carry out all file quality checks and file submission functions in respect of Road Traffic Offences within the Criminal Justice Department and prosecute traffic matters at the Magistrates Court.
To attend and present Traffic cases at Magistrates courts, dealing with any enquiries, legal matters and applying for costs where appropriate, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
To quality check all Traffic Files in readiness for presenting at court. Referring to the OIC where further evidence is required.
Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the appropriate documentation to deal with legal arguments, and case management actions on behalf of our client .
To identify and serve case material related to specified proceedings as set out in the National File Standard, and the Criminal Procedure Rules.
To liaise with other prosecuting agencies e.g. the Department of Vehicle Licensing, H.M. Custom and Excise and telephone queries from defendants where necessary and to resolve case related enquiries.
To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of criminal/road traffic law, and other relevant legislation.
Finance
To be cost effective in all contracts and purchasing undertaken in the department.
Proactively look to take cost out of department / business through efficiency and automation.

Ensure the delivery of effective customer and support service in line with any agreed service standards.
Undertake and participate in Bench Marking activities and survey requests
Must display the qualities to be able to work in an organisation with minority groups and provide a service to minority groups in communities.
